Anthropic signs $10 billion, six-year compute capacity deal with Nvidia-backed startup Volta
AI company Anthropic has signed a six-year, $10 billion computing-capacity agreement with Volta, an infrastructure startup backed by Nvidia. The capacity will be delivered with Bitdeer Technologies, a Bitcoin miner that operates data centers, at a Norway site with 133MW of power and Nvidia’s newest Vera Rubin chips. Volta also said it raised $300 million in venture funding, valuing the company at $2.4 billion. The deal highlights a growing overlap between AI demand for compute and crypto-linked data center operators, with Bitdeer’s mining and infrastructure role creating a direct tie even without any mention of BTC trading or technology.
