U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs Log $1.92B Weekly Inflows as BTC Rally Meets Key Resistance
AI Market Summary
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $1.92B of net inflows over five consecutive sessions, the strongest weekly demand since Oct 2025, lifting AUM to roughly $96B and reinforcing institutional bid under BTC. However, price action is running into major weekly EMA resistance (21- and 50-week) and the macro lower-high structure remains intact, leaving the breakout technically unconfirmed and increasing sensitivity to a post-breakout retest discussion.

Bitcoin's sharp weekly advance is running into a major technical checkpoint, even as demand via U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs accelerates.
BTC last traded around $77,231.62, after pushing toward the $80,000 area. Over the week ending Aug. 22, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $1.92 billion in net inflows, the strongest weekly intake since October 2025, when inflows totaled $2.71 billion.
Technical headwinds at weekly moving averages
Crypto analyst Rekt Capital said the rally has carried Bitcoin into its 50-week exponential moving average, which is currently acting as resistance. In his view, BTC needs to reclaim the 50-week EMA and establish it as support to strengthen the bullish case.
He also flagged the 21-week EMA as another level that has not yet been technically reclaimed. A weekly close above the 21-week EMA would be only the first step; the level would still need to be successfully retested and held as support. Rekt Capital warned that failure could echo the early-2026 relief rally that later gave way to a renewed downtrend.
Despite the rebound, he added that Bitcoin still shows a macro "lower highs" structure. Until the 21-week and 50-week EMAs are converted into support, he said, BTC has not confirmed a new macro uptrend and the latest breakout remains technically unconfirmed.
ETF inflows extend for five straight sessions
Institutional participation intensified through ETFs, with positive net flows recorded on all five trading days.
Farside Investors data showed Monday inflows of $297.6 million, followed by $189.3 million on Tuesday and $517.2 million on Wednesday. Thursday posted the largest single-day addition at $606.3 million, and Friday added $307.5 million.
BlackRock's IBIT notched a weekly peak day of $503 million. Fidelity's FBTC, Bitwise's BITB, and ARK 21Shares' ARKB also contributed. Over the same period, Bitcoin gained roughly 25%.
SoSoValue data put total U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF assets under management at about $96 billion. Ethereum spot ETFs also drew inflows of roughly $697 million during the week.
$66,000–$67,000 remains a potential retest area
Rekt Capital noted that Bitcoin has broken above its summer range and cleared several lower highs in recent weeks. He also said BTC notched double-digit gains in August 2026, which he characterized as a first for a bear-market August.
Even so, he identified $66,000–$67,000 as a potential post-breakout retest zone. Bitcoin does not have to revisit that range, but the possibility remains part of his framework.
Bitcoin also moved above the 200-week simple moving average in the latest advance, though Rekt Capital said price continues to face rejection from a separate lower-high resistance area. As a result, he argued the broader market structure has not materially shifted.
