Mt. Gox Pushes Creditor Repayment Deadline to October 2027

The Mt. Gox rehabilitation trustee has extended the deadline for several creditor repayment categories by one year, to October 31, 2027, Japan Standard Time, from October 31, 2026. The court-approved change was announced on October 16. The extension covers Base Repayment, Early LumpSum Repayment and Intermediate Repayment, according to a notice from the trustee. The trustee obtained court permission before setting the new date. Many creditors have not received repayment because required procedures remain incomplete or processing problems have arisen, the trustee said. The delay reflects outstanding creditor-level steps and execution issues, not a change to the approved repayment categories. The notice did not say how many creditors are affected or set a timetable for resolving individual cases. Wallets linked to Mt. Gox held about 34,388 BTC as of October 20, according to Arkham data cited by Decrypt. The holdings were worth roughly $2.8 billion at the time. The figure offers a snapshot of Bitcoin still tied to the distribution process, but does not identify when or to whom any particular creditor payment will be made. The new date is the fourth one-year postponement since the original October 31, 2023 deadline, Cointelegraph reported. October 31, 2027 is now the relevant completion date for the affected Base, Early LumpSum and Intermediate repayments.
