Bitcoin Rebounds Toward $80,700 as IBIT Snaps ETF Outflow Streak
Bitcoin recovered to nearly $80,700 on Tuesday after briefly trading below $80,000. Investors weighed whether fresh demand through U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs could support the token before the Federal Reserve interest-rate decision. SoSoValue data showed the funds took in $110.34 million on Monday, with BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) accounting for the entire net inflow. The move ended two straight sessions that produced $773.4 million in outflows. Cumulative October flows remained negative, with about $202 million in net outflows through Monday. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $526.6 million on October 19 and another $528.4 million on October 21. They lost $635.5 million on October 22, the largest single-day withdrawal since June 2025, then shed a further $137.9 million on Friday. IBIT, Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) and ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) were among the funds leading the recent selling. The 12 U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs held about $102.84 billion in net assets, equal to roughly 6.4% of Bitcoin market capitalization. Monday inflows went exclusively into IBIT, leaving open how broadly renewed demand extended across the group. Benzinga Pro showed IBIT trading just below resistance around $45.70. That level has repeatedly capped gains; a sustained break above it could signal a bullish trend and draw additional buyers. IBIT has support near $45.12, matching the recent intraday low. A pullback toward $45.12 may attract buyers and reinforce bullish sentiment if the support holds. River, a Bitcoin financial services firm, said in a breakdown cited by 99Bitcoins that individuals hold 79.6% of tradable Bitcoin. Businesses hold 9.4%, funds and ETFs 8.5%, and governments 2.5%. ETF flows can move prices at the margin even though ETFs hold a relatively small share of available Bitcoin. Demand that creates new ETF shares can require funds to buy additional Bitcoin; redemptions can prompt sales. Concentrated transactions can have an unusually large short-term effect when market liquidity is limited. ETF flows are only one influence on Bitcoin prices, along with derivatives positioning, overall risk appetite and macroeconomic developments. The Federal Reserve interest-rate decision on Wednesday is the next major catalyst. Investors will watch whether Bitcoin stays above $80,000, whether inflows spread beyond IBIT and whether cumulative October ETF flows turn positive. Persistent inflows into multiple funds would offer stronger evidence that demand is broadening. Further outflows could show that Monday recovery was temporary. Whether renewed ETF demand can sustain Bitcoin recovery, rather than leave it exposed to more selling, remains an open question.
