Cboe files with SEC to list first 3x leveraged Bitcoin and Ether ETFs in the U.S.
Cboe has filed an application with the U.S. SEC seeking approval to launch the first 3x leveraged Bitcoin and Ether ETFs. The products are structured as commodity pools regulated by the CFTC, rather than being registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940. The ETFs aim for daily returns equal to three times the underlying assets, but trading cannot begin until the related S-1 registration statement becomes effective. The SEC’s stance on leveraged products has been inconsistent, leaving the approval outlook uncertain.

Deribit wins Dubai broker-dealer licence, routing spot orders to Coinbase Exchange
Dubai’s virtual asset regulator granted crypto derivatives platform Deribit a broker-dealer licence on August 13, enabling spot orders placed on Deribit to be routed to Coinbase Exchange for matching. The change gives clients access to hundreds of additional assets and could later support derivatives trading. Abu Dhabi approved Coinbase on August 11 to operate a tokenised securities hub. Coinbase completed its roughly $2.9 billion acquisition of Deribit in 2025 after Deribit recorded more than $1 trillion in 2024 trading volume, a peak monthly volume of $185 billion and about $60 billion in open interest.
