Nvidia to buy Hugging Face for $12.93 billion as Broadcom reports 221% AI-chip revenue growth
Nvidia will acquire AI platform Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, bringing under its control a hub that hosts more than 3 million models and roughly 500,000 datasets. Hugging Face has more than 18 million users and 200,000 company customers. Broadcom also reported that its AI-chip revenue rose 221% year over year. Separately, China’s Moonshot AI is preparing for a Hong Kong IPO at a valuation near $50 billion, according to reports.

Eldorado Gold’s McIlvenna Bay zinc-copper mine in Saskatchewan nears startup as zinc tops $4,000 a tonne
Eldorado Gold’s McIlvenna Bay zinc-copper mine in Saskatchewan, Canada, is nearing production after a total investment of $952 million, including $217 million from the federal government. Ottawa designated the project as in the national interest to speed up approvals. The mine is expected to operate for 18 years and average annual output of 54 million pounds of zinc and 41 million pounds of copper, along with gold and silver. Zinc has climbed to a multi-year high above $4,000 per tonne, driven by multiple factors.

Dutch central bank shifts part of its gold holdings out of the U.S., with 18.5% still in New York and Ottawa
De Nederlandsche Bank has reallocated part of its gold reserves from the U.S. to Europe to improve liquidity. Of the 612 tons it holds in total, 18.5% remains stored in New York and Ottawa. The move follows a similar step by the Banque de France, which in March 2025 said it sold 129 tons of gold held in New York and bought gold in Europe, without citing geopolitical factors.

Uber rolls out the UK’s first driverless taxi service in London with 15 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles
Uber has launched what it says is the UK’s first driverless taxi service in London, using technology from autonomous vehicle developer Wayve and initially deploying 15 Mustang vehicles. The service, branded “AV 2.0,” uses AI to make driving decisions without relying on pre-programmed instructions. Only 15 of roughly 100,000 Ubers operating in London are part of the rollout, and riders are matched at random, marking a step toward commercialising autonomous taxis.
