Unite warns North Sea strike could shut Forties pipeline and disrupt 29% of UK oil supply

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Unite's strike threat at Apache's Forties and Beryl fields raises the risk of an outage in the Forties Pipeline System, a key conduit for UK North Sea output. With diesel prices already at record highs and broader supply anxiety elevated, a disruption would tighten near-term North Sea crude and gas availability and likely lift regional risk premia across energy markets, spilling into UK inflation sensitivity and energy-linked equities.

Britain’s Unite union said around 160 Apache workers are preparing to strike over pay, a move it warned could shut the Forties pipeline. Unite said a shutdown could disrupt 29% of the UK’s oil supply and 30% of gas supplies. Average diesel prices hit a record high of £2 a litre last week. Apache’s parent company, APA Corporation, reported £1.3bn in profit in 2025.
