U.S. and U.K. Deepen Coordination on Digital Asset Rules, Highlight Stablecoins and Cross-Border Payments
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The US and UK signaled deeper coordination on digital asset regulation, emphasizing stablecoin frameworks, GENIUS Act implementation, tokenization policy alignment, and faster cross-border payments. The Bank of England's review of stablecoin reserve requirements, including potential relaxation of the 40% noninterest-bearing deposit constraint, suggests a more enabling posture for stablecoin issuance and adoption. Near-term, this reduces regulatory uncertainty for compliant stablecoin and payment-related crypto infrastructure.

The United States and the United Kingdom said they will step up coordination on digital asset regulation following the 13th Financial Regulatory Working Group meeting held on July 8, Cointelegraph reported. Officials focused on implementation of the GENIUS Act, approaches to stablecoin oversight, and efforts to modernize cross-border payments.
In a joint statement dated August 4, the two sides said they aim to better align stablecoin policy and tokenization strategies, framing the work as a way to provide regulatory support for innovation in digital assets.
The Bank of England is also reviewing reserve requirements for stablecoins. The central bank is considering relaxing the current 40% cap on noninterest-bearing deposits, citing evolving regulatory developments in the U.S. dollar stablecoin market.
