TAC, a Layer 1 blockchain project, said an attacker exploited a flaw in the precompile layer of the Cosmos EVM module, draining about $7.5 million from a single account and moving roughly 29.86 billion TAC tokens from a custodial account.
The team said no new tokens were minted and the incident involved only TAC tokens, with no impact on other assets. TAC has halted the network at block 24,671,475, freezing all transactions and deposit/withdrawal activity, and said it is working with exchanges to trace the stolen funds.
The disclosure follows a similar Cosmos EVM module-related incident previously reported on MANTRA Chain. Separately, Term Labs was attacked the same day, with losses estimated at about $8.5 million. Earlier reports flagged a security issue tied to the Cosmos EVM module, with officials advising potentially affected chains to suspend operations.
