Odaily Planet Daily reports that Marinade Finance said on X that Solana narrowly avoided a networkwide outage this morning after 28.83% of staked SOL became unreachable, approaching the 33.34% shutdown threshold.
The disruption hit 90 validator nodes and led to an estimated 333 SOL in lost staking rewards. Marinade attributed the incident to a routing error at service provider Teraswitch: an incorrect route announced from a Miami node propagated to Europe and AsiaPacific, causing 12 nodes—LON1, AMS13, DUB12, FRA2, SGP12 and TYO13—to lose valid routing. North America was not affected. The issue was resolved within about 10 minutes.
Marinade noted that ASN AS20326 hosts more than a quarter of the network's total staked SOL. During the outage, 94% of stake on that ASN went offline at the same time, representing an effective 27.34% of total stake—above the SFDPmandated 25% upper limit.
Marinade added that Helius, the network's secondlargest validator, was fully offline for 33 minutes, and only a small number of nodes successfully completed failover. The firm said it will reassess staking concentration limits and push for validators to publicly disclose their failover capabilities.
