SBI-Backed Gumi Allocates $86M of Treasury to XRP, Unveils $18.3M Crypto Fund and Institutional Accounting Platform

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
SBI-backed Gumi consolidated an $86M corporate treasury into XRP, a notable single-asset reserve commitment that may bolster institutional perception and ecosystem usage narratives around XRP in Japan. In parallel, Gumi and SBI launched an $18.3M actively managed crypto fund and an institutional accounting platform to automate onchain bookkeeping, lowering operational friction for listed firms and asset managers. The package signals coordinated infrastructure-plus-capital deployment rather than a standalone allocation.

Gumi, the SBI-backed gaming and blockchain company, has shifted its $86 million corporate digital-asset treasury into XRP, a move that ranks among Japan's largest corporate commitments to the token and supports its goal of becoming the country's biggest corporate XRP holder. Rather than spreading reserves across multiple cryptocurrencies, Gumi has opted for a concentrated treasury position. The company is pitching the decision as part of a broader institutional strategy tied to XRP's potential role in payments, tokenization and financial services, while acknowledging that a single-asset treasury increases balance-sheet sensitivity to XRP market swings. In parallel, Gumi and SBI Group have launched SBI Crypto Fund LLC, an actively managed vehicle seeded with $18.3 million. Unlike Gumi's XRP treasury reserve, the fund is designed to rotate allocations across Bitcoin and other digital assets based on market conditions, pairing Gumi's long-term XRP conviction with a diversified approach aimed at institutional investors. The rollout also includes a digital-asset accounting platform built by Hinode Technologies, a joint venture between Gumi subsidiary gC Labs and TISI Inc. The patent-pending system targets listed companies and institutions, automating the accounting of staking rewards, gas fees and on-chain transactions, and integrating with existing accounting software. The platform will first be used within SBI Crypto Fund before being offered to external clients. The initiatives align with SBI's wider blockchain push, including its ties with Ripple, work with Ondo Finance on tokenizing Japanese equities, and SBI VC Trade's expansion beyond 2 million accounts. Gumi's $86 million XRP allocation sits at the center of a coordinated effort spanning treasury policy, investment products and enterprise infrastructure, though the bet's success will hinge on adoption and execution beyond speculative demand.
