Santiment: Bitcoin-Denominated Open Interest Drops to One-Month Low
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Santiment notes BTC‑denominated futures open interest fell to a one‑month low as a ~22% price rally coincided with leverage unwinding. While open interest rose in USD terms due to higher prices, the drop in BTC terms suggests reduced directional leverage and potentially less forced liquidation sensitivity near-term. This shifts focus to spot-driven flows and can lower short-term volatility stemming from derivatives positioning.

PANews, Aug. 24 — Santiment released an analysis of Bitcoin's recent price move and leverage conditions, noting that a roughly 22% rally has been accompanied by a pullback in leverage. Open interest measured in BTC fell to its lowest level in at least a month.
From Aug. 12 to Aug. 18, Bitcoin averaged about $63,500, climbing to roughly $77,700 by Aug. 23. Over the same stretch, BTC-denominated open interest moved the other way, sliding from around 353,500 BTC ahead of the rally to about 312,600 BTC on Aug. 23, a decline of roughly 11%.
In dollar terms, open interest rose about 8% during the period, as the price increase outpaced the pace of contract unwinding.
