Samsung Targets a Leading Role in Stablecoin Distribution Via Galaxy Phones

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Samsung's plan to embed native stablecoin functionality into Samsung Wallet across a large Galaxy installed base highlights distribution as a key moat for mainstream crypto payments. Dual deployment of USD and KRW stablecoins, supported by SDS and Dunamu infrastructure, could accelerate on-chain settlement and consumer usage via existing payment and savings accounts. The news is constructive for broader crypto adoption and liquidity conditions, even if direct beneficiaries are stablecoin rails.

ME News reported on Aug. 5 (UTC+8) that Joseph Goh, Head of Asia-Pacific at crypto investment bank Areta, said distribution is the key scarce resource in the stablecoin market. He argued Samsung's broad global reach could translate into a clear edge in stablecoin distribution. Goh added that Samsung's recent wallet move effectively locks in these channels, with Samsung SDS (SDS) and Dunamu supplying the underlying infrastructure. Samsung is looking to roll out both U.S. dollar- and Korean won-denominated stablecoins. Samsung previously said it will add built-in stablecoin capabilities to Samsung Wallet across more than 800 million Galaxy smartphones, including fiat-backed savings and payment accounts. Samsung Wallet has nearly 19 million users in South Korea and is available in 61 countries. (Source: ODAILY)
