Ravencoin's RVN token dropped sharply after the project reported that a consensus vulnerability on its proof-of-work network had been exploited.
The first confirmed invalid block was recorded at height 4,487,776 on Aug. 7. The bug led affected nodes to accept invalid blocks.
Mining pools 2Miners and RavenMiner, which account for most of Ravencoin's hash power, are now mining a chain that excludes the exploited branch. If this chain becomes the network's dominant version, Ravencoin said it could prompt a deep reorganization covering roughly three days of history.
Ravencoin advised exchanges to suspend RVN deposits and withdrawals until the network stabilizes. RVN fell about 9% within 10 minutes after the disclosure.
