Pi Network Update Could Unblock 914,000 Users With KYC and Mainnet Migration Fixes

Pi Network has released an update to its KYC and Mainnet migration flow aimed at resolving verification and wallet problems that have left large numbers of users unable to move forward. The project said the changes address edge cases where eligible participants became stuck during identity checks or after migration, and could restore progress for about 914,000 users. The largest KYC adjustment impacts more than 417,000 accounts previously placed into duplicate-account review. After additional review, Pi Network concluded these accounts were incorrectly categorized. Those users can now re-enter the standard KYC pipeline, while still needing to meet all other applicable verification requirements. The update removes an administrative block rather than skipping identity checks, and is expected to reduce the backlog created by false duplicate flags. A separate fix targets roughly 497,000 users affected by FastTrack wallet complications that left migrated Mainnet balances inaccessible. In these cases, some users received a Mainnet wallet via FastTrack and later used it as the migration destination, but certain wallets did not hold enough Pi to cover the gas fee required to claim the migrated balance. Pi Network said a remedy is scheduled to be deployed in about a week, with changes designed to unblock impacted wallets and prevent the issue from recurring for similar accounts. Alongside these fixes, Pi Network is expanding its identity-verification toolkit. The update includes a one-month pilot in which selected users will complete multiple liveness checks and may be offered palmprint capture as an additional method to confirm a participant is human. The team said palmprints can provide verification without requiring users to display their face, positioning it as a more privacy-preserving option. Additional changes include machine-learning-based resource management, expanded liveness-check support for older smartphones, and new resubmission options for certain Yoti cases and Indonesian ID submissions.
