75% of Nasdaq Tech Stocks Enter Bear Market as Volatility Persists

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Narrow leadership is unwinding: the Nasdaq 100 shed roughly $4 trillion in 25 days while AI names fell over 13% in October, yet the S&P 500 ex-AI rose 8% to a record. With 75% of tech stocks in bear market territory and 91% of IT constituents down 10%+ from highs, index-level resilience masks severe breadth deterioration. Expect elevated dispersion and volatility through November.

ME News reported on Nov 1 (UTC+8) that The Kobeissi Letter said in a post on X that the Nasdaq 100 has shed about $4 trillion in market value over 25 days. AI stocks fell more than 13% in October; the S&P 500 excluding AI names gained 8% over the same period and closed at a record high on Friday. The S&P 500 now sits just 3.5% below its all-time high, but about 58% of its constituents are at least 20% below their own peaks. Three-quarters of technology stocks have entered bear-market territory, and 91% of information technology sector stocks are down at least 10% from their highs. The Kobeissi Letter argues the selling is concentrated mainly in technology-related shares, and with most investors heavily exposed to tech, many are feeling market pressure far worse than the major indexes imply. It added that record capital spending tied to the AI technology revolution and normal market corrections could set the stage for the next rally, and it expects significant volatility to persist in November.
