Dormant Bitcoin whale shifts 16,400 BTC ($1.04B) after seven months of silence
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
A dormant Bitcoin whale moved 16,400 BTC (~$1.04B) after 7 months, relocating funds to a newly created wallet rather than a known exchange address. That reduces near-term liquidation risk versus typical exchange deposits, but the size makes it a key flow signal amid softer sentiment. Traders will monitor the next 4–48 hours for any follow-on transfers to exchange-controlled wallets that could affect liquidity.

A long-inactive Bitcoin wallet has reemerged, moving 16,400 BTC valued at about $1.04 billion after roughly seven months without activity.
Onchain trackers show the entire balance left address bc1qpt in a single transaction and landed in a newly created wallet. The destination is not linked to any known centralized exchange, easing concerns that the transfer signals imminent selling.
The move equals around 0.078% of Bitcoin's fixed 21 million maximum supply and stands among the largest BTC transfers recorded so far in 2026.
Lookonchain highlighted the transaction on August 3, 2026: "Whale wallet bc1qpt, holding 16,400 $BTC ($1.04B), transferred all 16,400 $BTC to a new wallet 1 hour ago after 7 months of inactivity."
Large wallet movements often spark speculation because exchange deposits have historically preceded periods of heavier selling. For now, blockchain records do not indicate the coins entered exchange-controlled wallets. Several analytics firms describe the flow as an "unknown-to-unknown" transfer, a pattern typically associated with custody reorganization such as cold storage management, institutional custody changes, inheritance planning, or private over-the-counter settlements. These transfers usually have limited direct impact on market liquidity.
The timing is also notable. Bitcoin was trading near $62,800 at the time, about 50% below its October 2025 high around $126,200.
Analysts are watching the next 4 to 48 hours for follow-up activity. If the funds stay in newly created wallets, the move is likely to be viewed as operational reshuffling. Any deposits to major exchanges would draw far closer scrutiny from traders.
