CFTC Floats New U.S. Crypto Rulebook, Including Voluntary Federal Registration Path
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The CFTC's proposed U.S. crypto market-structure framework, including a voluntary federal registration pathway, signals a potential shift toward clearer oversight for exchanges, though it reportedly would not cover spot trading. Concurrently, German regulators' MiCA license rejections and trading suspensions highlight rising compliance risk in Europe, while Hong Kong's planned broker/custodian legislation points to tightening regional standards. Near-term impact centers on regulatory uncertainty and venue risk.

CryptoNews.com (Oct. 8) — The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has unveiled a proposed regulatory framework aimed at reshaping U.S. crypto market structure, including a voluntary federal registration pathway for crypto platforms. The agency said it plans to rely on its existing statutory authority as it moves ahead with rulemaking for a federal crypto exchange framework.
CFTC Chair Selig said the proposal is intended to provide an optional compliance route for crypto exchanges. The draft framework, as described, does not extend to spot crypto trading.
In Europe, Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) rejected Futurum Bank AG's application for a MiCA license. Following the decision, bitcoin.de trading was suspended, and bitcoin.de is preparing a new operating model.
BaFin also rejected Bitcoin Group SE's MiCA license application.
In Asia, Hong Kong said it plans to submit legislation to regulate crypto brokers and custodians.
