Brazil Central Bank: July Crypto Purchases Slide 80% to $572M
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Brazil's central bank reported crypto purchases fell to $572M in July, down ~80% m/m, attributing the drop to exchanges adjusting to stricter digital-asset rules, notably AML and governance requirements. The contraction signals near-term demand and on/off-ramp friction in a key emerging market, even as year-to-date volumes remain higher than 2025 and activity is concentrated in stablecoins.

Brazil's central bank reported that domestic cryptocurrency purchases totaled $572 million in July, down nearly 80% from $2.6 billion in June and almost 60% lower than $1.4 billion in July 2025, according to Mars Finance.
Fernando Rocha, head of statistics at the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB), said the shift points to crypto exchanges adjusting to a new digital-asset regulatory framework. He highlighted tighter anti-money-laundering controls and governance requirements as key drivers behind the drop in transaction volumes.
Since the start of 2026, cumulative crypto purchases in Brazil have reached $15.25 billion, more than double the $7.6 billion recorded over the same period in 2025. The BCB added that most of the activity has been concentrated in stablecoins.
