BitMEX will cease operations on September 23, according to an official notice cited by ChainThink. The platform has already stopped accepting new account registrations.
BitMEX said it will introduce position limits starting August 26, barring users from opening new positions and allowing only position reductions. Ahead of the shutdown, the exchange will forcibly close any remaining open positions as part of an orderly wind-down.
HDR Global Trading Limited, the owner and operator of BitMEX, said its board reached the decision after a strategic review of the business and the broader cryptocurrency industry.
