Coldcard breach triggers spike in Bitcoin on-chain activity, close to post-FTX highs

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
A reported Coldcard hack triggered a sharp spike in Bitcoin on-chain activity as users rushed to move funds, pushing daily active addresses near 1 million and lifting small-transaction volumes to levels close to the post-FTX period. Rising exchange deposits from small holders and increased long-term holder spending suggest heightened risk-off behavior and potential near-term sell-side liquidity, while residual uncertainty around affected holders sustains tail-risk concerns.

ChainCatcher, citing CryptoQuant data, said Bitcoin on-chain activity jumped on July 31 as Coldcard users rushed to move funds. Daily active addresses climbed from 645,000 on July 30 to nearly 1 million, the highest since December 10, 2024, with the increase driven almost entirely by sending addresses. Transactions below 1 BTC totaled 39,600 BTC, just under the 39,900 BTC seen after the FTX collapse. Transfers under $100,000 reached $3.2 billion, the largest since November 21, 2024. Spending by long-term holders rose from 269,000 BTC on July 30 to 406,000 BTC, the highest level since January 14. Exchange deposits from small holders also surged to the highest reading since February 6. In the mempool, pending transactions jumped from 33,000 to about 96,000, the most since June 20. CryptoQuant's analysis suggests many users have already relocated their funds, though an unknown number of holders may still be at risk.
