Supporters of Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 110 (BIP110) are lining up a contingency plan that could sidestep the existing mining network if the soft fork fails to gain miner signaling. Bitcoin developer Chris Guida said he has rebased Luke Dashjr's 2017 proof-of-work (PoW) change code onto the latest release of Bitcoin Knots, positioning it as a last-resort option should major mining pools be seen withholding support for BIP110. Dashjr said he hopes the measure won't be necessary, adding that it is "probably good to have it prepared just in case."
