Square to Auto-Enable Bitcoin Payments for Eligible Sellers from March 30, 2026

Square will automatically enable Bitcoin payment acceptance for all eligible sellers starting March 30, 2026, according to an updated Terms of Service notice sent to users. The move will make millions of businesses using Square accept Bitcoin by default instead of requiring a manual opt-in, as part of Block's broader strategy to integrate Bitcoin payments across its ecosystem using the Lightning Network for faster and lower-cost transactions. Sellers will be able to turn off the Bitcoin payment option or choose to automatically convert incoming Bitcoin to USD at the point of sale.
