Wintermute said it has obtained U.S. broker-dealer status, placing it under SEC oversight and requiring compliance with FINRA rules on capital, supervision, recordkeeping and trading conduct. The firm has previously appeared as a trading counterparty in SEC filings for Fidelity’s Bitcoin and Ether products. Wintermute also said its global average daily trading volume exceeds $10 billion. In September 2025, the company sought guidance from the SEC on requirements for proprietary trading, self-custody and on-chain settlement of tokenized securities.
