Riot Platforms jumps nearly 25% premarket after $9.1 billion AI data center lease deal
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Riot Platforms' $9.1B long-term AI data center lease (potentially $16.1B with extensions) signals a credible revenue bridge from cyclical Bitcoin mining into contracted AI infrastructure through 2048. The strong equity reaction highlights renewed risk appetite for crypto-adjacent miners with hyperscaler-style cashflows, despite a GAAP loss driven by non-cash BTC revaluation and depreciation. This can spill over to listed crypto equities and miner sentiment more broadly.

Riot Platforms said on August 11 it has signed a long-term AI data center agreement valued at an estimated $9.1 billion, sending its shares up nearly 25% in premarket trading to as high as $23.65 from Monday’s $19.40 close. The deal is expected to generate about $9.1 billion in revenue through June 2048, with two optional five-year extensions that could lift the total contract value to about $16.1 billion. Riot also reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $174.2 million, up 14% year over year, as the Bitcoin miner deepens its exposure to AI infrastructure.
