Samsung retail investor group ACT pushes for extraordinary meeting on $31.79 billion buyback and bonus caps

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Retail shareholders' platform ACT is campaigning to force an extraordinary meeting at Samsung Electronics, seeking approval for a 45.5 trillion won (~$31.8B) buyback and caps on performance bonuses. If ACT secures support from the National Pension Service and asset managers to reach the 3% threshold, it could pressure governance and capital-return policy, potentially shifting near-term investor positioning after the stock's sharp drawdown.

South Korean retail shareholder platform ACT is seeking to convene an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting at Samsung Electronics to back a 45.5 trillion won ($31.79 billion) share buyback programme and set a cap on executive performance bonuses. To trigger the meeting, ACT plans to gather electronic signatures and line up support from the National Pension Service and domestic and overseas asset managers to meet the 3% ownership threshold. The campaign comes after Samsung shares fell by more than a third from record highs in June despite the artificial intelligence boom, Reuters reported.
