Nigeria lifts power sector bond yield to 17.85%–17.95% for N728.98bn issuance

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Nigeria raised the coupon on its Series 2 power sector bond to 17.85%–17.95% to support demand for a N728.98bn issue aimed at refinancing and settling legacy debts to generation companies under a broader N4tn restructuring plan. The move is locally relevant for Nigeria's sovereign credit and domestic fixed-income pricing, but has limited direct transmission to major global assets in the near term.

Nigeria’s Federal Government is offering a N728.98bn power sector bond to clear legacy debts owed to electricity generation companies. The issue is split into a N400bn cash tranche and a N328.98bn non-cash tranche, with a coupon marketed in a 17.85% to 17.95% range versus 17.50% on the inaugural deal. Subscriptions opened on August 3 and are scheduled to close on August 14, with settlement expected on August 24. The issuance forms part of a broader N4tn power-sector debt reduction programme.
