NatWest gets Fed clearance to open Connecticut representative office to expand US footprint
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
NatWest received Federal Reserve approval to open a representative office in Connecticut to market products, service clients and run back-office functions, modestly improving its US client coverage without enabling deposit-taking or lending. The move reflects incremental international expansion by a UK bank after ringfencing reforms and amid broader interest by European institutions in the US market. Near-term market impact appears limited given the office's restricted regulatory scope.

NatWest has received approval from the US Federal Reserve to step up its US presence. The bank plans to open a new representative office to market its products and services, handle customer-service activity and carry out back-office functions. It follows UK ringfencing reforms implemented in January 2025 that made it easier to establish a physical presence outside the European Economic Area. NatWest first entered the US market as RBS in 1988 but later scaled back after the financial crisis.
