G7 to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude over four months to rein in fuel prices

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
G7 will coordinate an immediate 100M-barrel release of diesel and crude via the IEA over four months, front-loaded in the first 20 days, while committing to avoid intra-G7 export restrictions. This adds near-term supply and reduces tail-risk from threatened diesel export bans amid war-driven price spikes, pressuring refined products and crude benchmarks and easing broader inflation and growth fears tied to energy costs.

G7 countries agreed to coordinate the release of 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil through the International Energy Agency, with the drawdown starting immediately and running for four months. A substantial share of diesel will be released in the first 20 days. The move is aimed at easing global supply concerns and curbing fuel prices. The IEA’s 32 member countries agreed last March to unlock 400 million barrels of oil from reserves, the largest release on record.
