CFTC Chair Selig Outlines U.S. Crypto Roadmap Including Perpetual Futures Launch Within a Month

CFTC Chair Michael Selig outlined a multi-point U.S. crypto oversight roadmap that includes launching true crypto perpetual futures within the next month and encouraging offshore liquidity to return onshore with stronger investor protections, MSB Intel reports. The plan calls for clear guidance on which digital wallets fall under CFTC jurisdiction, clarity on DeFi and onchain software regulatory treatment, and definitions of what constitutes an exchange or broker in decentralized markets. Selig also aims to modernize rules for onchain markets and is considering an innovation exemption to reduce reliance on enforcement-based regulation.
