Public companies' Bitcoin holdings reach 999,210 BTC as Strategy buys $1.28 billion in one week

Global publicly traded companies excluding miners increased net Bitcoin purchases to $1.28 billion last week, up 513% from the prior week, bringing collective holdings to 999,210 BTC as of 8:30 AM Eastern Time on March 9, 2026, SoSoValue data cited by Odaily Planet Daily show. Strategy said on March 9 it spent $1.28 billion to buy 17,994 bitcoins at an average price of $70,946, a 527% jump from its previous weekly purchase, lifting its total to 738,731 bitcoins. Japanese firm Metaplanet made no purchases for the eighth straight week, while DayDayCook disclosed on March 4 it bought 65 BTC, taking its total to 2,183 BTC, and Capital B said on March 9 it spent $140,000 for 2 BTC at $71,053.9 each, increasing its holdings to 2,836 BTC.
