CFTC Chair Says U.S. to Launch Crypto Perpetual Futures Within Weeks
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig said the agency is working to bring crypto perpetual futures to the U.S. within roughly the next month, CoinDesk reports. He noted that prolonged regulatory uncertainty has pushed a large share of perpetual futures trading activity to overseas venues. Speaking at a Milken Institute event in Washington alongside SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, Selig said the CFTC and SEC are advancing a joint "Project Crypto" initiative that will offer innovation exemptions for crypto projects and outline the regulatory framework for DeFi developers. The CFTC also plans to set explicit standards and guidance for prediction markets.
