Bitcoin and Ether ETFs log nearly $1B weekly outflows as crypto market drops 6%
On Thursday, cryptocurrency investment funds saw significant redemptions as total crypto market capitalization fell about 6% and nearly $1 billion exited Bitcoin and Ether products. Spot Bitcoin ETFs alone recorded $817.9 million in single-day outflows, contributing to roughly $1.1 billion in net redemptions so far in January and turning monthly flows negative. Ether and XRP products also posted sizable outflows, while broader risk-off sentiment tied to tariff concerns, tech stock weakness and high leverage unwinds added pressure across digital assets.

Messari analyst says only KYC-based prediction markets can realistically curb insider trading
Messari research analyst Austin Weiler argues that insider trading can only be meaningfully deterred on prediction markets that implement Know Your Customer checks, while fully onchain, non-KYC platforms face near-impossible enforcement. He notes that even KYC cannot completely prevent abuse, as insiders may still pass information to third parties, but it allows platforms to restrict access and raise enforcement standards amid growing scrutiny of political and geopolitical betting.
