Bitcoin Lightning Network Processes $1.1 Billion in November Transactions

Bitcoin's Lightning Network processed $1.1 billion in transactions in November, up from $286.5 million in the same period in 2024, Bitcoin brokerage River data show. Lightning transactions at Amboss have risen 300% since January, with the average transaction size now around 74,000 sats, valued at about $50 at a Bitcoin price of $67,714, cofounder Jesse Shrader said. Market participants told DL News that Lightning is increasingly used for larger transfers and settlement between exchanges and businesses, highlighted by a $1 million transaction facilitated by Kraken and integrations by Cash App and Block's Square payment terminals. Shrader noted that higher costs on networks such as Tron for sending USDT, alongside Lightning's lower fees and greater privacy compared with standard Bitcoin transactions, may be supporting the rise in Lightning Network volume.
