What Is Squid (QUID) and How Does It Work?

Squid (QUID) is the native token of Squid, a cross-chain routing platform that helps users and applications swap, bridge, and move assets across multiple blockchain networks. The platform supports routes across more than 100 chains and over 20,000 tokens, aiming to remove the need for users and developers to manually combine separate bridges, decentralized exchanges, gas tokens, and network settings.

At the center of the system is Squid Intents, an intent-based settlement protocol. A user or application submits the desired outcome, such as moving USDC from one chain to ETH on another. Squid obtains a route and opens an offchain request-for-quote auction where market makers compete to complete it. A trusted execution environment verifies the destination-side fill before releasing funds on the source side. This design keeps most routing and coordination offchain while the blockchains record the token transfers needed for settlement.

QUID is designed as the ecosystem token for participation functions such as staking, governance, and potential token-related mechanisms. Its role may develop as the product and governance framework mature, so holders should distinguish between features already available and functions that remain subject to governance or product decisions.

When Did Squid Launch?

Squid has operated as a cross-chain platform since 2023. The project says its infrastructure has processed more than USD 6 billion in routed volume and serves over one million users and more than 1,000 integrators. Its public materials also describe production use across wallets, applications, and cross-chain services.

The QUID public sale became available on June 30, 2026 at 1:00 PM UTC through Kraken and Legion. Official documentation lists the token on Base and identifies the QUID token contract as 0x1a44233FAe8D50F1AeB3a5d58dd426ff4814Cb53.

Who Created QUID?

Squid is developed and operated as cross-chain infrastructure, with its public documentation identifying Squid (BVI) Ltd. as the offeror and person seeking admission to trading for QUID. The official materials reviewed for this page do not provide a verified public founder list or individual founding-team biographies.

Squid describes itself as initially incubated in the Axelar ecosystem before becoming an independent cross-chain infrastructure layer. Readers should treat that relationship as historical context, not as evidence that Squid depends on Axelar for every route or protocol decision.

Squid Roadmap

Broaden cross-chain coverage: Squid continues to connect EVM and non-EVM ecosystems, including Bitcoin, Solana, XRPL, Stellar, Hedera, and Cosmos-based networks. Greater coverage can expand available routing paths and token liquidity access.

Advance intent-based execution: The protocol’s intent-based model uses competitive market-maker quotes and trusted-execution-environment verification. Continued work on routing quality, settlement reliability, and integrations is central to the product proposition.

Expand developer distribution: Squid provides APIs, SDKs, widgets, and integration tooling for applications and wallets. More integrator adoption could increase usage of the routing layer.

Develop the QUID ecosystem: Official QUID materials describe staking, governance, possible token-related mechanisms, and ecosystem utility as evolving functions. Their scope and timing remain subject to governance, product development, and applicable constraints.

What Is the QUID Token Utility?

QUID is designed to support participation and governance across the Squid ecosystem. The project describes the following utility areas, while noting that program rules and future functionality may change.

1. Staking participation: Holders may stake QUID to participate in ecosystem activities, including governance. The Year 1 staking allocation is 5,000,000 QUID, or 0.5% of total supply, and comes from a pre-allocated pool. It does not require newly minted tokens.

2. Governance: Governance is intended to begin with a limited set of protocol and ecosystem decisions, then potentially expand to subjects such as protocol parameters, treasury decisions, staking-program settings, and ecosystem initiatives. Governance weight may be associated with staked QUID under the rules in force at the time.

3. Potential ecosystem mechanisms: The official materials describe possible product experiences, ecosystem features, early-access opportunities, and token-related mechanisms. Governance may decide whether treasury resources support potential open-market QUID purchases after TGE. Such buybacks were not active at launch and should not be assumed.

QUID is not listed on BingX at the time of review. If availability changes, users can check the live BingX market interface, review the relevant market and order book, and use Market or Limit orders according to their own trading plan.

What Is Squid Tokenomics?

QUID has a fixed total supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens. Official documentation states that the genesis supply equals the maximum supply, with no further minting and no validator or emission rewards. The public sale allocation was 50,000,000 QUID, or 5% of supply, at a public-sale price of USD 0.045 per token.

Supply release matters because QUID has different unlock conditions by allocation. Public-sale tokens were fully unlocked at TGE. Investors, team and advisors, and strategic partners have no TGE unlock and a 12-month cliff, followed by an initial 25% cliff unlock and linear vesting. Foundation Treasury supply begins with a 10% TGE unlock, while the remaining 90% vests linearly over 36 months. Traders should monitor the actual circulating supply, governance changes, and scheduled releases of locked tokens. Maximum supply alone does not show these conditions.

QUID Token Allocation

30.39%: Investors: 303,946,126 QUID. No TGE unlock, 12-month cliff, 25% cliff unlock, then linear vesting to Month 24.

23.95%: Team and Advisors: 239,481,903 QUID. No TGE unlock, 12-month cliff, 25% cliff unlock, then linear vesting to Month 36.

23.16%: Foundation Treasury: 231,571,971 QUID. 10% unlocked at TGE, with the remaining 90% vesting linearly over 36 months.

10.00%: Strategic Partners: 100,000,000 QUID. No TGE unlock, 12-month cliff, 25% cliff unlock, then linear vesting to Month 36.

7.50%: Ecosystem Growth: 75,000,000 QUID. Approximately 93% unlocked at TGE, including 70,000,000 QUID at TGE and 5,000,000 QUID released linearly from Month 1 to Month 12 for Year 1 staking.

5.00%: Public Sale: 50,000,000 QUID. Fully unlocked at TGE, with no vesting or lock-up.
