FII ownership in Indian listed firms slips to a 14-year low of 15.88% as mutual funds rise to a record 11.58% in June 2026
As of June 30, 2026, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) held 15.88% of Indian listed companies, a 14-year low, down 0.24 percentage points from March 31, 2026. FIIs were net sellers during the June quarter, withdrawing Rs 1.43 lakh crore, with Rs 1.53 lakh crore exiting the secondary market and Rs 10,096 crore entering via the primary market. Over the same period, private sector promoter holdings rose to a two-year high of 41.36% on the NSE. The figures point to continued foreign outflows that have kept pressure on India’s equity market.

NSE says Aug. 3 Nifty, Bank Nifty spot-futures gap stemmed from new Closing Auction Session
India’s National Stock Exchange said the sharp divergence between Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty spot and futures prices on Aug. 3 was caused by the newly implemented Closing Auction Session (CAS) mechanism. The SEBI-guided process applies to derivative-eligible stocks and is intended to improve transparency and price discovery in the cash market. NSE said the divergence was a normal outcome of a technical transition and did not reflect a market anomaly.

India’s Q2 gold demand slips 6% to 131.4 tonnes as purchase value hits record Rs 1,98,100 crore
India’s total gold demand fell 6% year on year to 131.4 tonnes in the April–June quarter, but the value of purchases jumped 50% to a record Rs 1,98,100 crore as prices stayed at historic highs, the World Gold Council said. Jewellery demand dropped 15% to 75.1 tonnes, while bar and coin demand rose 9% to 50.3 tonnes. Gold ETF demand increased 49% to 4.2 tonnes.
