Germany-based biotech company BioNTech has lowered its 2026 sales forecast, citing continued softening in global demand for its COVID-19 vaccine. The revised guidance reflects an adjustment to the company’s own performance outlook. It does not involve changes in equity indices, commodities, exchange rates or macroeconomic policy.

Smith+Nephew lowered its 2026 full-year revenue growth forecast to around 4% from about 6%, citing notably weak demand for knee implants in the U.S. Second-quarter revenue rose 1.6%, missing analysts’ expectations of 3.7%, according to Reuters. Orthopaedics revenue fell 1%, with U.S. knee implants down 7.2% and U.S. hip implants down 1.5%. The shares slid as much as 7.9% intraday.
