Oil Prices Spike Up to 13% and Dow Futures Drop Over 1% After Strikes on Iran
Brent crude briefly surged between 10% and 13%, topping $82 before easing to around $78–$79, while WTI climbed more than 8% to roughly $72 per barrel after U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory attacks near the Strait of Hormuz. Shipping disruptions, higher war-risk premiums, and limited spare OPEC+ capacity intensified supply worries as Dow futures slid 559 points, with other U.S. equity futures also lower and gold jumping 3% on safe-haven demand.
